The Shipping Department was established after decentralization was introduced back in 1974. The intention was to establish a set of profit centers that would function independent of each other, irrespective of their sizes or services being offered to potential as well as actual customers.
The Department is ideally situated on Fort Street, Basseterre, in close proximity to most of the major businesses in town, whilst it is only a short walking distance from the Ferry Terminal and other drop–off points throughout Basseterre.
TDC Shipping is recognized as one of the largest and diverse shipping agencies on the island, as it provides not only agency representation, but a host of supplementary services that facilitates the importers quest to move cargo at exceptional ease.
The Department also provides importers with the opportunity to transfer goods to and from St. Kitts, via the use of the M.V. Bo, a ro-ro vessel owned by Sakara Shipping, but operated by the Shipping Department. The vessel offers a daily service to and from Nevis, but is available for charters and excursions to neighboring Countries.
TDC Shipping Department possibly has the largest array of principals in the maritime business, and as such, provides representation to carriers’ involved in the movement of containerized units, Cement, Steel products, Lumber, Vehicles and general cargo. The Department also represents a number of Cruise Lines and Military vessels plying the waters of the Federation. We are also fully equipped to handle charter arrangements between the owners of vessels and potential charter parties.
The TDC Shipping Department also provides valuable service to a number of Freight Forwarders seeking to transport less than full container loads (LCL) from the United States of America, Puerto Rico and Trinidad.
Furthermore, we are very heavily involved in Logistic Management Services, and as such have received very high accolades for services offered to a number of Logistic firms throughout the maritime industry.
